Nokia to Use Qualcomm Snapdragon

CEO Qualcom, Paul Jacobs, stated Nokia and Qualcomm will introduce Symbian smartphone with Snapdragon processor in the mid of 2010. The rumor said that the handheld will use Snapdragon 1.3 GHz and 1.5 GHz faster than today's speed which is 1 GHZ. This seems a leap for Nokia, as we know the fastest processor for Nokia phone is in N900, using ARM Cortex A8 600 MHz.

Nokia and Intel to Develop MeeGo

Nokia and Intel have worked together to create the operating system for mobile devices, the operating system called MeeGo. An open platform for mobile computing devices, tablets, netbooks, smartphones, internet-connected TVs and in-vehicle infotainment systems.

Both platforms are both based on open source software Linux. MeeGo take the best of patform Intel Mobilin platforms and joint Maemo, linux-based operating system used on the Nokia N900. MeeGo will target a variety of devices, including ARM and Intel-based platforms, and will offer users a continuity in all devices that have not been seen with other mobile OS platforms.

MeeGo will support cross-platform UI Qt framework application that allows developers to code for the Symbian and MeeGo simultaneously. This cooperation is expected to increase opportunities to incorporate Intel chips into Nokia mobile phone. Nokia now controls about 40 percent of the global handset market share.

Those nine mobile applications are developed by mobile application developers from Asia, Europe and the Americas. Of course, they will enrich Nokia applications and as ammunition for the company to win the market.
